The largest free outdoor event series in the Berkshires, 3rd Thursdays are family friendly and open to all. North Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from West Street to Linden Street and will be filled with music, performance, food and community activities.
“We are looking forward to celebrating the eleventh season with the return of some favorite 3rd Thursday features and the introduction of some new things including interactive demonstrations, a photo booth and performances every month from Jacob’s Pillow Dance,” says Jen Glockner, director of the city of Pittsfield’s Office of Cultural Development.
Youth Night will feature performances by Youth Alive; Cantarella School of Dance; Breffany Irish Dancers of Terpsichore Dance Center; The Taconic High School Guitar Ensemble and a guitar ensemble and ukulele trio from Wahconah High School; Rock On and demos and performances from Pittsfield City Hoopla and Funk Box Dance Studio. Other 3rd Thursday season highlights include: a dance party with DJ BFG in June; performances from 8 Foot River in July and Misty Blues in August; the unveiling of the Second Annual Pittsfield Paintbox Project; chef demos during the food-themed July event; a Touch-a-Truck event in August; the return of the Berkshire Bank Green Mile Road Race and the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes and much more!
3rd Thursdays season sponsors include: Berkshire Bank; Berkshire Gas; General Dynamics Mission Systems; Guardian Life Insurance Company of America and the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Upcoming 3rd Thursday dates and themes are: June 15 – Health; July 20 – Food; August 17 – Touch-a-Truck event; September 21: Walk-a-Mile. There will be no 3rd Thursday in October. Save the date for the Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 14, a collaborative event between the Downtown Pittsfield Farmers Market and the Office of Cultural Development.
