This week, Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 10 a.m., at the Mount’s Berkshire Family Focus sponsored free Books and Blooms program visitors are going to be treated to a reading from local children’s author Dan Sadlowski who will be reading from” Finding Brooklyn — And The Next Great Superhero.”
To become super you must possess AWE-MAZING powers. And to become a hero means being brave in a most troublesome hour. Brooklyn believes if you became a superhero it would prove you were undoubtedly special. But what super powers could possibly be within this completely average young orphan? Little did Brooklyn know she would find out soon.
There is no other word to describe “Finding Brooklyn — And the Next Great Superhero,” than simply FUN. From cover to cover the bright pencil and ink illustrations, and changing fonts and text outlines, simply draw you in and makes you want to keep reading. As Brooklyn , complete with her heart button and skeleton gloves, stands ups “tall yet small,” to the mocking of her classmates and the doubt of teacher to prove she is brave and special, readers can’t help but cheer her on in her quest to become Awe-Mazing. Kids of all ages will be sporting skeleton gloves and heart buttons after reading this sweet tale of strength and determination, and one little girl’s journey to finding her true super powers.
Dan Sadlowski is a teacher at Richmond Consolidated School. He designed “Finding Brooklyn — And the Next Great Superhero to uplift and empower children and to show that we all have an incredible superpower. The book features not only Sadlowski’s writing and art, but also Allison Pierce (illustrator) and Emily Sadlowski (digital editing/mastering). These 3 artist worked closely together to create an Awe-mazing story for all ages to enjoy!
