It’s summer at Edith Wharton’s The Mount in Lenox, and there’s plenty of fun to be had for kids of all ages, especially in the gardens. We are happy to be a sponsor of this summer’s Books and Blooms Tuesday morning story hour and craft, and super-excited for the lineup of local authors (and one author who hails from a few hours away, but loves to write about the Berkshires she has come to love as a frequent visitor to the area).
Tomorrow at 10 a.m. Claremary Sweeney, author of “A Berkshire Tale” will be reading a tale from the original book, now a picture book “The Pacas Are Coming! ZuZu and the Crias” (crias are baby alpaca), followed by a craft, and opportunity to meet the author. Books will be available for purchase at the event. Oh, and did we mention, all participants will have a chance to win a copy of one of Claremary’s books!
Claremary Sweeney is a writer/photographer living in South Kingstown, Rhode Island. She spent her earlier years in the field of education and now, retired, uses her imagination to create stories that can be enjoyed by children of all ages and the young at heart. Within A Berkshire Tale, are the original 10 ZuZu Stories about the adventures of a kitten born on a farm in the Berkshire Hills. The book is filled with the settings that make this area a historic as well as a cultural center in western Massachusetts. Claremary continues to write other tales in this series and is currently working on a Christmas adventure set in Stockbridge during the annual Norman Rockwell Weekend held during the first week of December each year.
Claremary also is the author of “Last Train to Kingston” is the first in a series of adult mysteries using Rhode Island historical sites. Book prices: “A Berkshire Tale” $19.95; “The Pacas Are Coming! Zuzu and the Crias” $18; “Train to Kingston” (adult) $15.
