DALTON — If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t have believed that one show could contain so much laugh-out-loud comedy! But I promise you, such a show does exist … and it will be brought to you this year by the Apollonian Players of Wahconah Regional High School. Rowan and Martin’s “Laugh-In,” a show of pure comedy, will definitely make you laugh out loud!
Based upon the famous television show from the late ’60s/early ’70s, this show contains all of the favorites. From the goofy comedy pair of Mr. Dan Rowan and Mr. Dick Martin (two of the funniest co-hosts in the history of comedy) to Miss Goldie Hawn (the “dumb blonde”) this show is just overflowing with great humor, quirky characters and the goofiest cast to play the roles.
“Laugh- In,” a show that ran from 1967-1973, is a hilarious comedy show, much like the Saturday Night Live of today. For anyone who remembers watching the show (or seeing it in re-runs), you will see all your favorite characters and scenes in the staged version. Miss Edith Ann (“And that’s the truth”), Ernestine, the Old Maid and the Sock-It-To-Me Girl (Cockney Girl) all make regular appearances throughout the show, as well as many others. Even if you haven’t seen the television show, the staged performance will still be hilarious and a laugh-out-loud night to remember. (And don’t worry, the racy humor has been toned down for this production.)
The show runs from Thursday, Oct. 31, through Saturday, Nov. 2, and this one is a must-see! Thursday’s show is at 7 p.m. and the shows on Friday and Saturday are both at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 for students and $9 for adults, and they will be sold at the door. All shows are in the auditorium at Wahconah Regional High School, 150 Windsor Road, Dalton. This show is definitely a must-see!
So come on over to Wahconah this upcoming weekend and see the show. Be prepared for a night of fun, laughter and constant humor where you couldn’t keep a straight face if you wanted to! Come enjoy all of your favorite characters, catch phrases (“Sock-it-to Me,” “Bet Your Bippy,” etc.) and scenes in general. The Joke Wall alone will have you laughing all night long. And you’ll have to come to the show to see who wins the “Flying Fickle Finger of Fate Award” this time.nAll of this “Sock-it-to-Me,” and “Fickle Finger of Fate” stuff sound crazy?! It should. Because that’s what this show is; a bunch of crazy, laugh-out-loud humor that is sure to make you break roll over belly laughing time after time!
I’ll leave you with that; can’t give away too much of the show. And I look forward to seeing everyone at this weekend’s performances (I’ll be the one in the blonde wig and giggling).
