In 2012, I began Berkshire Family Focus with a mission to create a premier website where parents living in and visiting the Berkshires would have a go-to resource for all things families. And I did just that. Try a simple google search regarding things to do in the Berkshires, or playgroups, or storytimes or family calendars … Berkshire Family Focus is right there to guide the way.
I take great pride in our calendars, and made it goal to be able to say one day after several years “Berkshire Family Focus has the most comprehensive family calendars in Berkshire County.” By the feedback from our readers I get on a regular basis, I think that is definitely fair for me to say. From North to South Berkshire County, if it’s happening, it has most likely made it into our calendars, or our BFF Top 10 Weekend Picks, or into one of our many guides.
Being able to bring all that to you, takes a lot of time and work, and through the years I have grown the website so much that I continually took on new roles — editor, sometimes writer or photographer, web designer, web support technician, social media manager, newsletter creator, ad sales rep, and often times event coordinator.
It became too much, so something had to give. No, I didn’t give up my job as Publisher of a fantastic resource for parents, grandparents and kids alike in the Berkshires. I just gave up the web design and technician party of it. To that end, I had to join another company to help lighten my workload and to wear a few of my hats for me. So I am pleased to announce that I am now the publisher of Berkshires Macaroni Kid.
What will change?
Not much! The name, of course, will now be Berkshires Macaroni Kid. The calendars, still done by me, will still be “the most comprehensive family calendars in the Berkshires. All of our guides — 150+ Things to Do with Kids, Family Hiking Guide, Fall & Halloween Guides, to name a few, they have all either been moved or are in the process of being moved.
What will you gain?
- Firstly, you’ll gain a publisher who is not as overwhelmed with all the hats she used to wear.
- You will also gain a publisher, who now has support in the form of a MacKid Headquarters, and hundreds of publishers throughout the country.
- You will have access to special MacKid National giveaways, articles, columns and more.
- In a few weeks I will head to my first MacKid MeetUp, at which I will take away tons of information from other publishers on how to give you the best family site out there (and I may even take home some swag to give away when I come back).
This is a good thing, and I am very excited about this new venture, and I hope you will come along with me. I guarantee you will still find the same great resource and well of information on raising kids in and exploring around the Berkshires over at our new home Berkshires.MacaroniKid.com.
This isn’t goodbye. It’s just I’ll keep in touch from a new address.
A new e-newsletter will be coming your way on Thursday, as usual, to bring your our latest Top 10 Picks for the Weekend as always. It will just be coming from me at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you choose to unsubcribe just click the bottom of that email when you get it and I will take you off the list. But I hope you won’t.
Here’s to another 5 and half years and more of bringing you all the best Family Fun information in the Berkshires. Thank you for your support.
Peace, love and … make sure you come for a visit.
