STOCKBRIDGE — This Sunday, Jan. 14, at 4 p.m., an informative and provocative talk by Dr. Jonathan Aronoff, titled “The Lost Generation of Boys” with Dr. Jonathan Aronoff.
Dr. Aronoff is a licensed psychologist, board certified psychoanalyst, and certified personal and executive coach with a private practice in Stockbridge. For the last 10 years Dr. Aronoff has been focusing his clinical and coaching practice on adolescent and young adult males and couples. His extensive work with adolescent and young adult males has prompted him to write a book, “The Lost Generation of Boys,” currently a work in progress.
Who are “The Lost Generation of Boys” and why should we be concerned about them? Dr. Aronoff will address this profound and disturbing trend in our current population of boys and young men, characterized by immaturity, impatience, passivity, and/or abusive, violent and aggressive behavior. These “man-boys” gravitate towards technologically driven activities that offer immediate gratification and constant stimulation. They withdraw from their families and find their “real world” on the Internet.
In his talk, Dr. Aronoff will explore the factors that have contributed to this trend, and will propose a model to teach parents, teachers, coaches and spiritual leaders how to educate, socialize and mentor boys so that they will become men.
This event is free; light refreshments will be served following the talk. The Stockbridge Library is located at 46 Main St., in Stockbridge.
